Lazio Forward Muriqi: “I’m a Striker & I Want to Score, I’m Ready”

Lazio forward Vedat Muriqi highlighted his excitement to return to Istanbul for tonight’s Europa League match against Galatasaray.

Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 27-year-old Kosovan forward first discussed his happiness at returning to the Turkish city.

Istanbul is a beautiful city and it’s a pleasure to come back.

I’m a striker and I want to score, I’m ready for that.

Muriqi then touched on his issues during his debut season with Lazio and his desire to show something different this campaign.

In my first season with Lazio I arrived with Covid and I was coming from a lower level league.

It’s not easy to become the starter in a team that has been tested for five years, now I’m ready to give my contribution, then the coach will decide.

The 27-year-old Muriqi, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2025, joined the Roman club in September 2020 in a deal worth around €20 million from Fenerbahce. He failed to impress in his first campaign, scoring only two goals in 34 appearances across all competitions.

This summer coach Maurizio Sarri expressed his desire to have only two strikers in the one, and so the 62-year-old Italian coach picked Muriqi over the other possible candidate, Felipe Caicedo.

The Kosovan forward will be hoping to find a run of good form this campaign, giving him the confidence to show his best.
