FIGC Open Investigation Into Lazio’s Racist Chants Against AC Milan’s Bakayoko

Lazio risk being fined as a result of the FIGC’s investigation into the racist chants against AC Milan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the FIGC Federal Prosecutor’s Office has officially opened an investigation into the chants that came from the Biancocelesti away end of the San Siro in last week’s Serie A clash.

The Prosecutor’s Office took note of the evidence provided by the Rossoneri but it’s likely that they would have opened an investigation regardless.

Lazio have a history of racist chants and the issue has reared its ugly head again following a year and a half of stadium closure.

The fact that the match was only an away game could change the situation a little, meaning that the Roman club’s possible maximum penalty could be a simple fine.

Updates are expected over the coming days and weeks, with Lazio again in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
