Cagliari coach Walter Mazzarri was hopeful of the team’s chances against Lazio this evening.
Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference (via LazioNews24) yesterday, the new Rossoblu coach looked ahead to tonight’s match against the Biancocelesti and their recent back-to-back defeats.
We meet a top and strong team after two defeats against important teams, we will find them angry, the best Lazio, only Sarri knows their condition.
I just look at the mechanisms and we’ll respect the opponent, we’ll have to do the best with what we’ve worked on, football reserves nice surprises, if we work together we can put Lazio in trouble but I have to make points not words.
The 59-year-old Mazzarri was appointed as the Rossoblu’s coach earlier this week, following the dismissal of Leonardo Semplici.
The Sardinian side are in a tough spot, having only picked up one point after the first three games. Cagliari drew their season opener with Spezia 2-2, before losing to AC Milan 4-1 and Genoa 3-2.
Mazzarri will be dreaming of securing the Sardinian side’s first win of the season against an uncertain Lazio today at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Biancocelesti had started the season well, with wins over Empoli 3-1 and Spezia 6-1, but back-to-back losses to AC Milan 2-0 and Galatasaray 1-0 have soured the mood a little.
