Claudio Lotito Looks Ahead to Lazio vs Roma, “A Team That Wants to Fight”

Lazio president Claudio Lotito looked ahead to this Sunday’s Derby della Capitale against Roma.

Speaking during a speech at the presentation of the club’s initiatives (via LazioNews24) yesterday, the Biancocelesti president discussed the upcoming Rome derby.

This Lazio team is proactive, although results can also be achieved by playing catenaccio.

In the derby I hope for the attitude of a team that wants to fight for great goals because the club has done everything possible to make this happen.

We need patience, we need to acquire that mentality and those movements that today are struggling to arrive because there was a different tactical set-up.

He then touched on his performance as the Lazio president.

I don’t think we can complain about anything, I hope the fans appreciate the efforts we’ve made. Being at Lazio must be a source of pride.

Let’s not forget that after Juventus we’re the team that has won the most in recent years.

Finally, Lotito spoke about a possible duel between Maurizio Sarri and Roma coach Jose Mourinho in the derby.

No sensation, personalising events is wrong.

The players and the coach are on the pitch, the former must be faithful executors of what the latter decides.

Lazio are currently going through a rough run of form, having failed to find a win in their last three matches.

The Biancocelesti started the season well with strong wins over Empoli 3-1 and Spezia 6-1, but a 2-0 loss to AC Milan shook the confidence a little, which was exacerbated by the 1-0 Europa League loss to Galatasaray. A 2-2 draw against Cagliari on the weekend confirmed the slump.

The Roman club need to bounce back in tomorrow’s match against Torino if they want to be in fighting form for the derby against Roma.
