Muriqi Relieved With Lazio’s Late Goal vs Torino, “A Point Is Better Than Nothing”

Lazio forward Vedat Muriqi was relieved with the late equaliser against Torino in last night’s 1-1 draw.

Speaking in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via LazioNews24) after the game, the 27-year-old Kosovan forward commented on last night’s Serie A clash.

Torino are a very aggressive team, but we knew it would be difficult. We won the penalty in the last minute and we’re happy because a point is better than nothing and we deserved it.

We play every three days and there is a bit of tiredness, but we are players and we work well. We had an intense week of training, now we’re focusing on the derby.

He touched on how important it is for him to perform well, even if his game time only comes from the bench.

We don’t want to play with long balls, I’m trying to always help my teammates, even if within 10 minutes I give my heart.

I’m trying to give everything for this club.

Finally, Muriqi spoke about the morale in the squad and looked ahead to Sunday’s Derby della Capitale against Roma.

Lazio are a team that cannot be happy with a point, but today was important before the derby.

In these three days we have to work harder to bring it home.

The 27-year-old Muriqi, who is contracted to Lazio until 2025, has made five appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 68 minutes.

He has not made a start yet under coach Maurizio Sarri but was chosen over Ecuadorian forward Felipe Caicedo in the pre-season to be Ciro Immobile’s backup striker.
