Vanja Milinkovic-Savic Disappointed With Torino’s 1-1 Draw vs Lazio, “It’s a Shame”

Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic was frustrated with the 1-1 draw against Lazio last night.

Speaking in an interview after the game (as reported by Toro.it), the 24-year-old Serbian goalkeeper commented on last night’s draw between the Granata and the Biancocelesti.

This is a result that doesn’t fit, it should have been on our side, it’s a shame for the two points dropped, we could have won by a wide margin but we have to be happy with the performance.

He commented on if the 1-1 draw was the best result for the two siblings, with Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic lining up against his brother.

Maybe for our mother! I talked with him but not about football, about our private things, we will talk about football tomorrow.

The Serbian goalkeeper confirmed that he wasn’t paying special attention to his brother.

I thought about saving everyone’s shots, I wasn’t focused on Sergej, there are so many good players.

Milinkovic-Savic spoke about how painful Lazio’s late penalty and equaliser was for himself and the Torino squad.

The conceded goal hurts, I don’t think it hurts me anymore, I think it will stay in the mind of all of us, in the next games we have to do better in the final few minutes.

The Torino goalkeeper underlined that the squad did not think the game was over when it was 1-0.

I didn’t think it was over on 1-0, you never can until the referee blows the final whistle but I was hoping for it, yes.

Also last year in the final they called for a penalty, I hoped it wouldn’t happen again this year.

Finally, Milinkovic-Savic spoke about coach Ivan Juric’s trust in him and the upcoming matches against Venezia and Juventus.

It’s important, but I’m the one who has to prove that I deserve the job. Intense week, but first we think about Venezia, then the derby.

The 24-year-old Milinkovic-Savic, who is contracted to Torino until 2024, has played every game for the Granata so far this season, being Juric’s number one choice.
