Milinkovic-Savic Underlines Importance of Fans in Lazio’s 3-2 Derby Win vs Roma

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic noted the importance of the fans in the 3-2 derby win over Roma last night.

Speaking in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN (via LazioNews24) after the game, the 26-year-old Serbian midfielder spoke about the victorious Derby della Capitale.

We needed the fans and today we played this good game for them as well. We played better than the other games.

This victory will serve to have that extra motivation. Maybe we lacked cynicism at the end and we have to improve in this aspect.

Milinkovic-Savic then discussed how his goal against Roma felt, which gave Lazio an early advantage.

I’ve scored a lot of goals, but scoring in the derby is great. I’ve scored a lot of goals before, but at Roma it has a different feel.

Self-esteem? Now it’s 100.

Lazio’s derby win over Roma means that they are now sixth in the Serie A table after six games, one point behind fifth-placed Fiorentina, who are tied on points with rivals Roma.

Coach Maurizio Sarri is hoping that the derby win will give the team a new lease of life following their recent run of poor form, which saw them fail to win in their previous four outings.
