Roma forward Nicolo Zaniolo has been fined €10,000 after making an obscene gesture toward the Lazio fans in the Derby della Capitale last weekend.
As announced in an official Lega Serie A statement earlier today, the 22-year-old Italian forward was given the fine after appearing to grab his crotch whilst exiting the Stadio Olimpico pitch following the Giallorossi’s 3-2 loss to the Biancocelesti on Sunday.

Zaniolo’s gesture was enough to see him receive the €10,000 fine, but he has not been suspended, meaning that he will be able to play in Roma’s next Serie A game of the season against Empoli.

The 22-year-old Italian forward had a quiet derby against Lazio, struggling to impose himself as Jose Mourinho’s side tried to level out the game.
Zaniolo, who is contracted to Roma until 2024, has made five league appearances so far this season, providing one assist in that time. He also picked up a red card after receiving two yellows in the season opener against Fiorentina.
