Coach Nikolic Suggests Lokomotiv Moscow Will Be “Confident & Aware” Against Lazio

Lokomotiv Moscow coach Marko Nikolic is feeling prepared for tonight’s UEFA Europa League match against Lazio.

Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference (via LazioNews24) yesterday, the Serbian coach first discussed the quality of the opponents in Lokomotiv’s Europa League group this season.

Galatasaray, Lazio and Marseille are Champions League teams, we are honoured and also happy to face the Biancocelesti who are a team of great quality. We’ll play our game, going on the attack but with tactical discipline.

It’s an honour to meet Sarri, I played against him two years ago when I was in Hungary.

We are aware of the value of Lazio, some players come from my country which is Serbia. If I had to make a prediction I’d say 50-50.

He gave his thoughts on Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who briefly played under Nikolic years ago.

I never have little faith in the people I coach. I’m happy to have Sergej back, he’s one of the fittest and most sought-after players.

We could already see his value at Vojvodina, even though I didn’t spend much time there. I’m pleased to meet him, but I hope it’s not his night.

UEFA Europa League Preview: Lazio vs Lokomotiv Moscow

The Lokomotiv Moscow coach commented on the Russian side’s preparations for tonight’s match at the Stadio Olimpico.

As I said at the beginning, how we have prepared will be seen on the pitch. We are aware of our quality and the points to improve.

I expect tactical discipline from my team but, at the same time, a team that is confident and aware of its own means.

A team that fights for every ball, but with balance between the two phases. We have several chances to take an advantage and we will play them.

Finally, Nikolic spoke about Lazio’s 3-2 Derby della Capitale win against Roma last weekend.

Obviously I watched it, great atmosphere and quality play.

A couple of aspects we are interested in that we have pinned down but I won’t tell you.

Lokomotiv Moscow have had an underwhelming start to the season, currently sitting 3rd in the Russian Premier League after the opening nine games.
