Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi may be suspended for the next two games against Inter and Hellas Verona.
As reported by Italian media outlet LazioNews24 earlier today, the 33-year-old Italian defender was first given a yellow card in the loss to Bologna following his protests at referee Davide Massa’s decision, before being given a direct red card after continuing his tirade against the official.
Acerbi then showed the middle finger gesture whilst leaving the pitch, something that may be taken into account when deciding the length of his suspension.
Acerbi apologised for his actions last night, with it evident that the lethargic 2-0 loss to Bologna leading to the player losing his head.
The 33-year-old Italian defender is a core part of Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri’s squad, starting every game across all competitions so far this season.
