Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri is focusing on improving the squad’s mentality following the 2-0 loss to Bologna.

As reported by Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the Biancocelesti have a history of suffering mental blackouts, like the one seen following the 2-0 loss to AC Milan last month.

Last year, before Lazio’s Champions League opener, the team lost 3-0 against Sampdoria and later that campaign collapsed at home against Bologna after a 4-1 defeat by Bayern Munich.

The loss to RB Salzburg in the Europa League in 2018 also had a knock-on effect, with losses to SPAL and Chievo derailing the race for a Champions League spot.

Sarri also has experience of squads having mentality drops, as seen during his time in charge of Napoli, who lost to Fiorentina 3-0 after beating Juventus in Turin, which had rekindled their title race hopes.

The Lazio coach will work closely with the squad to try and strengthen their mentality in order to avoid mental blackouts like the ones seen recently.
