New Lazio Women coach Massimiliano Catini is excited to take charge of the team ahead of their game against Pomigliano on Saturday.
Speaking in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Italian coach presented himself to the Biancocelesti fans and gave his thoughts on the Lazio Women squad.
I want to greet all the Lazio fans. The experience and the teaching leads me to analyse the squad and the team to put them in the possible conditions to express their best qualities.
I see a team that wants redemption and is hungry. The team wants to show that the current position is not the one that they deserve.
Saturday I expect a team that will give a shake to the season, I saw the girls focused, motivated and determined to do well.
We’ve studied Pomigliano, who among other things have changed technical leadership recently.
They have changed a lot also at a tactical level, and against Inter despite the issues they deserved to win.
On Saturday they will come here to win and take advantage of our situation, but as always the pitch will speak for itself.
Today, if I didn’t look at the standings and what we did in the match, I wouldn’t say that I was leading a psychologically beaten team.
I see a charged team, ready and willing to change. We have to put this bad moment behind us and start scoring points on Saturday.
I’m not talking about individuals, because I was amazed by the squad and it’s not a made-up sentence. There is unity of purpose and desire to do.
Difficult moments can be overcome with the squad, this is what we and the team have told each other.
In order to stimulate the girls, we have tried to maintain the guidelines they have had up until now.
Finally, Catini discussed his plans and objectives, as well as his initial impressions and the next steps.
With my staff we don’t want to upset everything right away, there will be time. The first final will be Saturday, it’s a game where we have to bring out our best and it will direct our path.
Then the competitions that will come are a consequence. Now we have to focus on Saturday. My staff and I will put all our experience at the disposal of the girls who are now at a good point and we can make them grow even more.
I don’t think the team deserves this position. There is always an eye on the youth sector, also because we need to help the girls grow from a young age.
From the U15’s upwards, a great deal of work has been done in recent years. If there is someone to reward, we will do it, always in agreement with the club and the director.
Lazio Women currently sit bottom of the Serie A Femminile table this season, with zero points after their opening five games.
Saturday’s opponents Pomigliano have started the season a little better, picking up one win and one draw in their opening five matches.
