Crucial Week Ahead for Immobile as He Aims to Be Fit for Lazio vs Inter

Next week will be crucial for Lazio star Ciro Immobile as he works to be fit in time for the next match against Inter.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 31-year-old Italian striker will undergo key medical tests on Monday or Tuesday next week to examine the state of his right thigh semimembranosus, which is still healing following the injury against Lokomotiv Moscow.

The results of these tests will dictate whether or not Immobile is allowed to return to Lazio’s squad training. A return means that he should be able to face Inter next weekend, whilst continuing to train separately implies a slower return to the pitch.

Sarri and the whole Lazio team hope to have Immobile fit to face Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri but they don’t want to take any risks, with the player being the clear focal point of the squad.

Despite the importance of the match against Inter next weekend, it would not be worth rushing back the 31-year-old Italian striker and potentially exacerbating his injury in the early stages of this long season.
