Sarri Has Scheduled an Extra Defence Training Session Ahead of Lazio vs Inter

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri has pencilled in another defence training session ahead of next weekend’s match against Inter.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 62-year-old Italian coach needs to reorganise his defensive plans a little ahead of the upcoming clash with the Nerazzurri due to the suspension to Italian defender Francesco Acerbi.

In order to iron out any issues, Sarri has scheduled an extra defence training session in Formello next week on Wednesday.

This session will only involve Lazio’s defenders and defensive midfielders like Lucas Leiva, Danilo Cataldi and Gonzalo Escalante.

The four centre backs – Luiz Felipe, Patric, Stefan Radu and Denis Vavro – will have to improve in both their build-up play and movement as a single unit, keeping a consistent back-line.

Sarri demands a defence that defends actively and pushes up the pitch in order to stay tight with the midfielders and forwards, rather than sitting back in their own half.

The midfielders will have to help in this aspect by always being there to provide passing options, which is why the defensive midfielders will join Wednesday’s extra session.
