Coach Inzaghi Emotional Ahead of Lazio vs Inter, “It’s a Return Home”

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi highlighted how emotional tomorrow’s match against Lazio will be for him.

Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 45-year-old Italian coach first commented on tomorrow’s opponents.

Lazio have played some very good games, they are built very well. A new coach has arrived who is very good, the guys are having very good games.

They lost the last game so they will be angry, we will find a Lazio side that wants to do well.

The former Lazio coach spoke about the physical conditions of the various South American players in the Inter squad.

It happened to us after the last break but we played on Sunday, this is a particular situation. Sanchez and Vidal will not be with us in Rome, I certainly would not have used them and they will be useful for Tuesday.

The same for Sensi who has trained quietly but cannot kick comfortably, we have had good signs and we hope to recover him on Tuesday.

I’ll have to talk to Correa, Lautaro and Vecino and see how they are. We will have to grit our teeth, we have alternatives in those roles.

He commented on what kind of match he expects against the Biancocelesti tomorrow evening.

We will have to be clean and good technically.

They will do great pressing, we have to be good in the two phases.

Inzaghi revealed how emotional it will be to face Lazio in the Stadio Olimpico tomorrow. This is his first time returning to the Italian capital since signing for Inter earlier this year.

It’s not a match like any other, it’s a return home, a home that has been mine for 22 years. It will be a great emotion to see the guys who have given me everything over the years, the people behind the scenes who have always been special to me.

And then the fans who have been very important, we have celebrated and suffered together, we have reached great goals that have not been reached for a long time.

I know there will be whistles and applause, I’ll accept them. They know that I have always given everything for those colours.

He gave his thoughts on Lazio president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Igli Tare.

So much has been said, I think both he and Tare have been important for my coaching career.

I’ll never run out of ways to thank them, knowing that we have integrated well with each other and achieved great results.

Finally, Inzaghi ran through some of his squad choices for the match tomorrow evening.

I have several solutions. Dzeko will play, Satriano, Perisic or Çalhanoğlu can flank him.

I will have to evaluate the conditions of Lautaro and Correa, the former played 80 minutes and the latter entered in his place.

On Çalhanoğlu I’m very satisfied, tomorrow I don’t know if he will play from the start or enter the game in progress.

Inter currently sit third in the Serie A table after seven games, with 17 points. The Nerazzurri have won five of their matches so far, drawing the other two.
