Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri wants veteran goalkeeper Pepe Reina to redeem himself in tomorrow’s match against Inter.
As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 39-year-old Spanish shot-stopper had a disappointing performance in the 3-0 loss to Bologna before the international break, and Sarri wants the former Liverpool man to redeem himself tomorrow.
Reina has a great desire to prove himself against Inter tomorrow, but above all, he enjoys the trust of Sarri; the 39-year-old Spaniard is the coach’s third most used player through his career, after Elseid Hysaj and Daniele Croce.
In Reina’s 11 previous matches against Inter, playing for Lazio, Liverpool and Napoli, the Spanish veteran has collected seven clean sheets, a strong statistic that Sarri hope will be added to tomorrow.
Reina had a standout performance in the Derby della Capitale victory over Roma last month, making a variety of key saves to secure the three points for Sarri’s side.
