Luiz Felipe Apologises for Red Card After Lazio’s Win vs Inter, “It Was an Innocent Act”

Lazio defender Luiz Felipe apologised for his red card following the end of Lazio’s 3-1 win over Inter yesterday.

Writing in a post on his Instagram page after the match, the 24-year-old Brazilian defender attempted to explain the situation and his mindset, before apologising for the sending off.

I would like to express myself on the negative repercussions in relation to what happened today at the end of the match.

First of all, I want to make it clear that I have great respect for Inter or any other club. We are all professionals, working to pursue our goals and we would never disrespect another professional.

At the end of the game I ended up jumping on Tucu’s shoulders because he is one of the great friends that football has given me.

Our families are friends and we have always been very close. There, what I wanted most was to hug him and joke about the result as much as our friendship allows, but I got emotional.

Maybe, in retrospect, it wasn’t the best time or place. I apologise to anyone who felt offended and make it clear that I did not try, in any way, to be disrespectful to him, to the other athletes or to the International Institution and its passionate fans.

It was an innocent act, from a person who has great affection for Tucu !!! I love you bro.

Inter Coach Inzaghi Disappointed After 3-1 Loss to Lazio, “It’s a Setback”

The 24-year-old Luiz Felipe, who is contracted to Lazio until next year in 2022, will now be forced to miss the Biancocelesti’s next league match against Hellas Verona next weekend.

This is not a good position for coach Maurizio Sarri, as defender Francesco Acerbi also will be suspended due to his red card in the 3-0 loss to Bologna before the recent international break.

Coach Sarri Happy With Performance in Lazio’s 3-1 Win vs Inter, “We Deserved the Win”

This means that Sarri will be forced to deploy his second choice options in the upcoming match against the Gialloblu, meaning that Patric and Stefan Radu are likely to start.

Luiz Felipe has played in all but one league match so far this campaign, only missing the 6-1 win over Spezia due to a thigh injury.
