Radu Set to Make His Season Debut Under Sarri in Lazio vs Hellas Verona

Lazio veteran Stefan Radu is set to make his season debut in the upcoming league match against Hellas Verona.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, coach Maurizio Sarri will be forced to deploy the Romanian defender in the next league match against the Gialloblu because both Luiz Felipe and Francesco Acerbi are suspended.

The suspended duo will start in Lazio’s next match against Olympique de Marseille on Thursday but will be forced to watch the Hellas Verona match on the sidelines, with Radu likely partnering Patric in the match.

Radu has not made a single appearance this season under coach Sarri but this could change in Thursday’s Europa League clash. Bringing on the Romanian veteran as a substitute makes sense in order to give him some minutes ahead of the match against Hellas Verona.

The 34-year-old Radu, who has been with Lazio since 2008, is the club’s all-time record appearance holder, having played in 412 games for the Roman club across all competitions.
