Milik Notes Olympique Marseille “Want to Score and Win” Against Lazio

Olympique Marseille forward Arkadiusz Milik is looking forward to tonight’s Europa League clash against Lazio.

Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) yesterday, the Polish forward first spoke about the Biancocelesti and their strengths.

I spent 5 years in Naples, I know the league well. Lazio are a strong team with a lot of quality. I think the Europa League has nothing to do with Serie A.

I expect a dangerous team and we have to be ready to face a tough game.

The Olympique Marseille forward touched on his physical condition and fitness ahead of tonight’s game against Lazio.

I’ve been out for a few months doing rehabilitation. I’ve been training with the team for a month now. I’ve played three games and feel good physically.

I’m not ready to play eight games in a row, but my knee is fine and that’s important. I’m happy that we won against Lorient and that I scored.

We have to work because tomorrow there is an important game and we want to do well.

He gave his thoughts on Biancocelesti coach Maurizio Sarri.

Me and Sarri had a good relationship. I have a lot of respect for him because he is a great coach. We did well at Napoli even if we didn’t win anything.

At Chelsea he won the Europa League and at Juve the league. He is a strong coach with clear ideas and who plays an offensive game.

The Polish forward commented on his desire to find some consistency.

I need a few games to find my rhythm. It was a difficult period where I also missed the European Championship and the beginning of this season.

Now I’m fine and trying to understand my body. Right now, all that is needed is patience.

Milik did not want to think ahead to Sunday’s heated derby against Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

I don’t want to talk about Sunday’s game against PSG. There is a difficult match tomorrow, the squad is well and recovery is fundamental.

There is not much time to rest and work. Only the match against Lazio counts, then we will think about the league.

He highlighted his happiness at playing in an offensive system under coach Jorge Sampaoli.

Always nice for a striker to have a coach like Sampaoli playing offensively. For a centre forward it’s the best thing in the world, you’re always dangerous and close to the goal.

I am happy that we are playing this way, we can still improve a lot but with time we will be able to make progress. The team is young and playing will improve.

The former Napoli forward spoke about a striker’s need to find the back of the net and the importance of tonight’s match against Lazio.

Every striker feels the responsibility. We have to score goals and make a difference. We don’t always succeed. In Europe we lost a few points also due to bad luck.

We didn’t manage to score much. Tomorrow we want to score and win. That’s what we need. We only have two points and we need to get more.

If we win against Lazio, we’ll be able to move up in the standings, that’s what matters most.

Finally, Milik discussed how there will be no Olympique Marseille fans in the Stadio Olimpico this evening, with tickets being restricted to the home fans.

With our fans we always have a full stadium. I can’t say anything about the others. I’m happy with the Marseille fans because every game they are always close to us and this is the most important thing for a player.

Tomorrow there won’t be a full stadium but these are things we can’t control.
