Fiorentina Winger Gonzalez Tests Positive for Covid-19, Will Miss Match vs Lazio

Fiorentina winger Nicolas Gonzalez has tested positive for Covid-19 and will not be able to play against Lazio tomorrow.

As announced in an official statement earlier today, the 23-year-old Argentinian winger is now self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19 in the recent round of testing; the player is asymptomatic.

The 23-year-old Gonzalez was signed from Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart in a deal worth around €23.5 million in the summer transfer window, and would have surely started in tomorrow’s match against Lazio.

The Argentinian winger has had a good start to the season under coach Vincenzo Italiano, featuring in all but one game so far this campaign.

In that time, he has scored three goals and provided two assists across all competitions, forming a good relationship with Fiorentina’s star forward Dusan Vlahovic.

Gonzalez’s absence is a frustrating blow for coach Italiano, who will now be forced to pick either Riccardo Saponara or Riccardo Sottil in his place against the Biancocelesti.
