There was a heated confrontation between Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri and Luis Alberto during the last international break.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the relationship between the 62-year-old Italian coach and the 29-year-old Spanish midfielder has not developed well, with the player struggling to integrate himself well in the new system.

Luis Alberto is no longer able to enjoy the same freedom of action that he was given under previous Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi and so it has been tough to adapt.

Bad blood has started to develop between player and coach and there was a very heated talk between the two during the recent international break.

Since then, Luis Alberto has found himself starting on the bench in the last three consecutive games, something that does not seem likely to change in Lazio’s match against Fiorentina tomorrow.

Sarri considers the midfield too unbalanced if it contains both Luis Alberto and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, leaving the Spaniard relegated to the sidelines.

The former Liverpool man now has around two months to try and convince the coach that he has made a mistake, working to regain his starting spot.
