Vincenzo Italiano Highlights Fiorentina Will Need “The Right Mindset” Against Lazio

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano noted the team’s need to stay focused in tomorrow’s match against Lazio.

Speaking to Fiorentina’s official channels (via Fiorentina.it) earlier today, the 43-year-old Italian coach first touched on the difficulty of such a busy schedule.

The management of tiredness is not easy, the recovery from previous fatigue is felt when you play so often.

Luckily there are many of us. We’re involving the whole squad and everyone must be ready.

The Fiorentina coach looked ahead to tomorrow’s match against Lazio and the team’s growth so far this campaign.

Lazio are a strong opponent, we have to go to Rome with the right mindset, as we did against Cagliari, to play an important match.

We’re growing, we did well to react to the two defeats, and I think we’re seeing a mental jump from everyone. The head is what counts, and it can make the difference tomorrow.

He gave his thoughts on Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri.

At Napoli he put on a show. Everyone admired him, and many tried to steal something from that Napoli. He is a great coach, he has also won abroad. I respect him a lot.

We’ll face a well-coached, strong team, I’ve seen a lot of Lazio games, even if they lost the last one. But we know it will be very difficult.

Finally, Italiano commented on how it will feel for the Fiorentina squad to return to the Stadio Olimpico after their recent previous match against Roma there.

We’re going back there after the match against Roma. That was an important day for us, because even though we lost we played a great game.

This time there will be more fans, with the increased capacity, but this time we must try to improve on what we’ve done so far and take away points, with confidence.

Fiorentina currently sit seventh in the Serie A table after nine games, with 15 points. The Florence-based team have won five of their matches so far this campaign, losing the other four.

Lazio sit one spot behind Fiorentina in eighth place, having one less point. The team have found success in important matches against Roma and Inter but then have collapsed against sides like Bologna and Hellas Verona.
