Lazio Coach Maurizio Sarri Has Only Ever Lost 2 Serie A Games Against Atalanta

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri has only ever lost two Serie A matches against Atalanta, both of which came in the 2016/17 season.

As collected by stats provider Transfermarkt, the 62-year-old Italian coach’s first match against the Bergamo-based club came in the 2005/06 Serie B season, when his Pescara side lost 3-0 away. The home match that campaign was a 2-2 draw.

Lazio Consistently Struggle In Away Games Despite Good Home Performances

Sarri then didn’t face Atalanta for eight years, before his Empoli side hosted Atalanta in November 2014. That match ended 0-0 and the return match in Bergamo was a 2-2 draw.

The Lazio coach won his first match against Atalanta the following season, securing a 3-1 win away and a 2-1 win at home.

In the 2016/17 season, Sarri did not pick up a single point against Atalanta, losing 1-0 away before falling 2-0 at home.

The year after that, his Napoli side won 3-1 at home and 1-0 away but lost 2-1 in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

Sarri’s most recent two matches against Atalanta came in the 2019/20 season when his Juventus side won 3-1 away and drew 2-2 at home.
