Lazio Consistently Struggle In Away Games Despite Good Home Performances

Lazio have struggled to replicate their home form in their away games so far this season.

As noted by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, out of the 17 points achieved by the Roman club so far this season, 13 of those have been obtained at the Stadio Olimpico.

Only AC Milan and Napoli have secured more points at home this season than Lazio, earning 15 points in five games. The Biancocelesti have scored more at home, netting 15 goals compared to the six that they have conceded.

Their performances away are the complete opposite, however. Lazio have only collected four points from their five away matches so far this campaign, winning only against Empoli and drawing against Torino.

Their other away games to AC Milan, Bologna and Hellas Verona were all painful losses. Only five goals have been scored away, with 11 being conceded.

Coach Maurizio Sarri is convinced that the problem is the squad’s mentality and not in his tactical setups, with the top players impressing at the Stadio Olimpico and then remaining anonymous when playing away.

This situation makes it difficult to imagine Lazio finishing in the top four this season, given the amount of points earnt by their biggest opponents in away matches.

AC Milan, Napoli, Atalanta and Inter have all earnt 13 points from five away matches, followed by Juventus (8) and Roma (6).

Sarri will be hoping that the squad can start looking to solve this issue in tomorrow’s away match against Atalanta, a team that have only earnt five points at home this campaign.
