Lazio Will Not Lodge Complaint About Reina Being Struck by Coin in Draw vs Atalanta

Lazio will not lodge a complaint regarding the coin thrown at goalkeeper Pepe Reina in the 2-2 draw against Atalanta.

As reported by the Sunday edition of Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport – called La Gazzetta Sportiva (via LazioNews24) – earlier today, the Atalanta fans are set to be punished by the Sporting Judge and the Federal Prosecutor’s Office for the incident, which was clearly caught on camera.

Lazio have decided not to make a complaint, instead letting the relevant authorities take action against Atalanta and their fans.

Reina was struck in the back of the head by a coin during the final minutes of the 2-2 draw against the Bergamo-based club yesterday.

The Spanish goalkeeper did not stop the match to complain and instead cleaned up his penalty area, being booked for time-wasting.

Corriere dello Sport reports that Atalanta now risk receiving a large fine and it’s also likely that a section of their stadium will be closed for a match or two.
