Lazio Star Immobile: “Proud to Be Part of the History of This Glorious Team”

Lazio star Ciro Immobile was overjoyed to have matched the club’s all-time top goalscorer record.

As seen in a post on Immobile’s Instagram page last night, the 31-year-old Italian striker expressed his joy at having matched Silvio Piola’s record of 159 goals with the Biancocelesti. The former Torino man is likely to break the record against Marseille or Salernitana next week.

Below is Immobile’s Instagram post commenting on his record with Lazio, accompanied by the caption:

Thank you to all the people who contributed and above all helped me reach this goal. Reaching a legend like Piola is exciting and inspiring for the future.

Proud to be part of the history of this glorious team. It’s a pity for the result but as captain I’m proud of my team. Great job guys.

The 31-year-old Immobile, who is contracted to Lazio until 2026, joined the Roman club five years ago from Sevilla in a deal worth around €10 million.

The Italian striker has certainly proven to be the club’s greatest ever investment, having scored 159 goals and providing 45 assists in 232 games across all competitions for the club.

In the 2019/20 season, Immobile won the European Golden Boot, after having scored 36 goals in 37 Serie A matches.
