Muriqi Set to Start for Lazio vs Olympique Marseille, Immobile on Bench

Lazio striker Vedat Muriqi is set to start in place of Ciro Immobile against Olympique Marseille this evening.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 31-year-old Italian striker is still suffering from some mild flu-like symptoms and has discomfort in his left knee, so coach Maurizio Sarri does not want to risk starting him in tonight’s match.

As such, Muriqi will be brought into the starting lineup against Marseille in place of Immobile, who will watch on from the bench.

The Kosovan forward alternated with Spanish winger Pedro in the final training session but the false nine idea is something that will appear during the game, rather than being the starting system.

The 27-year-old Muriqi, who is contracted to Lazio until 2025, has made nine appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 203 minutes. In that time, he has failed to score once, although he has provided a single assist.
