Parolo Thinks Lazio’s Draw vs Atalanta Was “The Foundation” for Great Match vs Marseille

Former Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo thinks Maurizio Sarri’s squad are on the right tracks ahead of tonight’s match against Olympique Marseille.

Speaking in an interview with Italian broadcaster Lazio Style Channel (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the DAZN pundit first remembered when he helped the Biancocelesti beat Marseille a few years ago.

It was a good and important match for us that we had to win and we also played a great game, winning 3-1.

It was a heartfelt away match as far as the fans were concerned, a warm place. Beautiful.

Parolo was not impressed that Lazio fans were banned from attending the match against Olympique Marseille at the Velodrome tonight.

Until you get to the stadium you don’t feel anything, once you get in and you don’t see the section of your fans who have always come, who have always been at the stadium to cheer you on and when you’re playing away they give you that strength.

If you don’t see them you’re affected and you pay for it. In my opinion, it shouldn’t happen because nowadays there are all the possibilities for the fans to travel safely to away games.

The DAZN pundit spoke about the growth and quality of Italian midfielder Danilo Cataldi, who has stepped up a level this season under Sarri.

Danilo has changed for a while it’s already a year and a half that he has changed the way he sees himself and he has matured.

I knew personally at the beginning of the season that with Sarri he would have a great chance of being liked and carving out his own space, I also told him in person and he would just have to be patient.

I’m happy to have been right about this because he has the characteristics to be very important for Sarri’s game.

The former Lazio midfielder looked ahead to this evening’s match against the Ligue 1 side.

Today it’s important for Lazio to score. Lazio in Bergamo had one of the best games if not the best of the season and I think they are on the right track.

I saw a team that was able to manage the ball against an Atalanta side that presses and takes away space and that’s the problem Lazio has had so far.

They did it against Atalanta with personality, conceding a lucky goal. It’s the foundation to have a great game tonight.

Finally, Parolo spoke about Ciro Immobile matching Silvio Piola’s all-time top scorer record and if he’ll beat the record against Marseille or Salernitana.

Hoping for a goal from Ciro is trivial. If it’s not today it’s Sunday, he’s bound to score more.

I’m overjoyed for him and it’s yet another demonstration of how strong he is and an essential player for this Lazio.

Lazio need to pick up the full three points in tonight’s match against Marseille if they want a strong chance of qualifying for the Europa League Round of 16.
