Luis Alberto Highlights Progress After Win vs Salernitana, “We’ve Seen a Different Lazio”

Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto was in high spirits following the team’s 3-0 win vs Salernitana yesterday.

Speaking first in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via LazioNews24) after the game, the 29-year-old Spanish midfielder commented on his goal against the Campania-based side.

I wanted to try to pass, however, seeing that he had opened his legs, I shot immediately and I was lucky.

I’m happy to have helped the team, now we are there.

Luis Alberto spoke about the growth of the Lazio squad under Maurizio Sarri this season.

Little by little we’re working on what the coach asks and we’re improving a lot, in the last games we’ve seen a different Lazio, but this is the way.

We have to continue because we are close to the Champions League spots.

The 29-year-old Spanish midfielder looked ahead to the games after this international break.

We have to think about the first game, because Juve are always difficult. We’ve already made a lot of mistakes, but we’ve taken steps forward, let’s get consistency.

We know how to face the Bianconeri, we have motivation, let’s move forward.

He touched on his changing role under the 62-year-old Italian coach.

I had a lot of chances today and what they were asking me was more the defensive phase. I’m improving a lot, but I missed a game like that, ball and foot.

More complete match in both phases.

Luis Alberto then spoke about his goal in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN.

I saw that the defender had opened his leg a bit, I kicked and luckily I scored.

An important goal.

He touched on the team’s adaption to Sarri’s system and requests.

We’re running a lot more now, we still have to understand the change in formation.

We will reach 100%, in this way we will also run less.

Finally, Luis Alberto spoke about his future and the endless discussions around it.

I have always said that I have a contract here, I will give 100% for Lazio. If the coach puts me as a starter it’s because he believes I’m doing well.

Every year there is a discussion, all players go through that. Especially those with a role like mine.

Now I’m happy, I’m playing and the team is winning. This is the important thing.

The 29-year-old Luis Alberto, who is contracted to Lazio until 2025, has made 12 Serie A appearances so far this season, for a total of 800 minutes.

In that time, he has scored two goals and provided four assists, finally starting to find his footing in Sarri’s 4-3-3 system.
