Saudi-backed Newcastle United are interested in signing Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha in the upcoming January transfer window.
As reported by British tabloid The Sun on Saturday, the Premier League side sent some scouts to watch the 26-year-old Albanian goalkeeper in the Biancocelesti’s 2-2 draw with Olympique Marseille last week and they were impressed with what they saw.

Newcastle are hoping to agree to a pre-contract with Strakosha in January and want to offer Lazio a low price in order to sign him immediately.
The 26-year-old Strakosha is considering it, not being satisfied as the club’s backup goalkeeper to Spanish veteran Pepe Reina.

Lazio are hoping to convince Strakosha to renew his contract, which is set to expire next year in 2022, but if they fail to do so then they could decide to accept Newcastle’s offer in order to avoid losing the Albanian on a free transfer next summer.
Strakosha has only made four appearances so far this season, all of which have come in the UEFA Europa League.
