Italy Coach Roberto Mancini Noted He Was “Sorry” for Injury to Lazio Star Immobile

Italy coach Roberto Mancini expressed his disappointment at the injury to Lazio talisman Ciro Immobile.

Speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Azzurri coach commented on the injuries to the Biancocelesti star and Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini.

We’re sorry for Immobile and Chiellini, but it’s something for all National teams the same, injuries can be a bit more in this phase.

But we are in a positive situation, we know what we are as a team and we have to stay calm. Tomorrow will be a difficult match.

Mancini then commented on if Torino forward Andrea Belotti will play in the match against Switzerland.

We have training today, tomorrow morning. But whatever decision we make I am sure we will play well.

Today’s training is important, in these two days the boys have mostly recovered. However Belotti has a chance to play.

It is no surprise that Mancini and the Italy squad would rather directly qualify instead of having to fight through the play-off match.

Italy missed out on the 2018 World Cup after losing to Sweden in the play-off, heightening the tension ahead of tomorrow’s match.

Their final 2022 World Cup qualifier is against Northern Ireland next week.
