Lazio Midfielder Danilo Cataldi Describes Azzurri Call-up “A Fantastic Feeling”

Lazio midfielder Danilo Cataldi highlighted how great it felt to receive the call-up to join the Italian national team.

Speaking on the FIGC’s outlets (via LazioNews24) ahead of the Azzurri’s match against Switzerland last night, the 27-year-old Italian midfielder described his emotions regarding the experience so far.

A fantastic feeling, it’s the first time I’ve been in this stadium with the national team shirt.

For me, it’s the first time in this squad and I think there is a fantastic chemistry. 

We will play a great game, I am sure of it.

The 27-year-old Cataldi, who is contracted to Lazio until 2024, has exploded this season under coach Maurizio Sarri, hitting heights not seen before by the player.

The Italian midfielder is proving to be the perfect replacement for the aging Lucas Leiva in Sarri’s three-man midfield, partnering well with Luis Alberto and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Cataldi has made 10 Serie A appearances so far this season, for a total of 434 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal.
