Lazio Midfielder Milinkovic-Savic Helps Serbia Qualify for 2022 World Cup

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will play in next year’s World Cup after helping Serbia finish top of their qualifying group.

The 26-year-old Biancocelesti midfielder played in all but one of Serbia’s games in their successful 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign, only missing out on the 3-2 win over Ireland in March.

In those seven games, Milinkovic-Savic scored one goal and provided two assists, helping the side secure an unforgettable 2-1 win over Portugal on Sunday last week in order to qualify them for the tournament. The Lazio midfielder is a key part of the Serbia national team and he will be hoping to shine in next year’s World Cup in Qatar.

The 26-year-old Milinkovic-Savic, who is contracted to Lazio until 2024, has made 16 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1081 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided four assists, being one of the stars of coach Maurizio Sarri‘s squad.
