Allegri Highlights Juventus Were “Patient in Our Management” of 2-0 Win Over Lazio

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri was satisfied following his side’s 2-0 win over Lazio yesterday.

Speaking in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN (via LazioNews24) after the game, the Bianconeri coach first analysed the 2-0 win in the Stadio Olimpico.

The team played a good game, even though we had many chances to score and we didn’t take advantage of them.

We were a bit hasty in the decision-making process. Kulusevski had to go to the corner flag and he tried to dribble…

It’s not nice to concede, but one minute later they put the ball in the box and it’s a mess.

The Juventus coach was satisfied with the defensive performance against Lazio yesterday.

We took a lot of shots, we had a lot of chances and we didn’t concede anything. We played a good game against an excellent Lazio team, managing the ball well.

Sarri’s teams do well we know, and we were patient in our management.

He did not think that yesterday’s game was a victory of his ‘corto muso’ system over Sarrismo.

I have fun, when you understand it will be too late. If you have fun I tell things that are opposite of what I think.

Today was Lazio Juve, not Sarrismo against corto muso. There are also opponents, football is strategic.

There is a moment you have to keep the ball and a moment when you have to go. The match is not written on a protocol.

Allegri was satisfied with the performance of his midfielders in the game.

The three midfielders did well, Pellegrini was a difficult game, he missed a few balls. Rabiot has an engine that when he starts, he could have played another 90 minutes.

He limited Milinkovic-Savic a lot. Their dangerous actions came from our mistakes in the opponent’s area. The team is slowly growing, the results help cement our certainties.

He spoke a little more about the midfield and their adaptions to his system.

It takes a bit of time and you have to learn quickly. There are times to keep the ball, do the defensive phase.

I have never seen a great team that has won, win with sufficiency and superficiality. To do that you have to have great respect for your opponents.

The Italian coach commented on the current state of star forward Paulo Dybala.

When he’s available again, hopefully soon, he often plays on the center-right, but he can also play up front. In that case you need a more covering midfielder.

He has great strength in his legs, the important thing is that he returns soon.

Finally, Allegri spoke about the performance of Dejan Kulusevski.

He had a good game, it wasn’t easy. It takes calmness when you get inside the area, you need the right choice.

Juventus’ win means that they now sit 7th in the Serie A table after 13 games, with 21 points. They are currently tied on points with Lazio and Fiorentina, with the race for a top four finish starting to heat up.

Lazio’s next encounter with the Bianconeri will come on the penultimate weekend of the season, when they’ll play away on 15th May.
