Lazio Seriously Interested in Juventus Defender Rugani, Talks Could Start Soon

Lazio are strongly considering making a move for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani and could start talks soon.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Repubblica (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) yesterday, coach Maurizio Sarri would like a new central defender to replace the outgoing Denis Vavro and would be happy to work with the 27-year-old Italian defender, who is on the sidelines of Massimiliano Allegri’s project.

Rugani has only made one Serie A appearance so far this season for Juventus, but the biggest obstacle is seemingly Allegri‘s position. The coach does not want to deprive himself of a reliable player, especially considering Giorgio Chiellini’s inconsistent fitness.

Rugani’s contract expires with Juventus in 2023 and he currently has a market value of less than €10 million, making a deal fairly accessible.

Lazio coach Sarri would be happy to be reunited with the Italian defender, remembering him well from their time together at Empoli; the Biancocelesti are set to open talks with the Bianconeri in the coming days to discuss the feasibility of the deal.
