Lazio’s Hysaj Forced to Pay €40,000 Fine to Napoli After Collegio Arbitrale Decision

Lazio full-back Elseid Hysaj will have to pay a €40,000 euro fine to Napoli following a decision by the Collegio Arbitrale.

As announced in a statement by Napoli yesterday, the 27-year-old Albanian full-back is required to pay the fine following the decision to punish his behaviour back in the 2019/20 season, when he refused to go into the mid-season training retreat after the Champions League match against RB Salzburg.

This was considered a violation of Hysaj‘s contract with Napoli, so now he will be forced to pay the club €40,000 as punishment. That incident was a key moment in Carlo Ancelotti’s time in charge of the Neapolitan side and he left the club shortly after.

The 27-year-old Hysaj signed for Lazio as a free agent in the Summer Transfer Window, reuniting with trusted coach Maurizio Sarri. The pair have worked together at both Empoli and Napoli, with the Albanian understanding the 62-year-old Italian coach’s system well.
