Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi was overjoyed following the team’s 3-0 win over Lokomotiv Moscow last night.
Speaking to Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via LazioNews24) after the game, the 33-year-old Italian defender first commented on the importance of the win over the Russian side yesterday.
It wasn’t easy to get a result here. At the beginning we couldn’t make ourselves dangerous, but we were still in the game.
Then we were good at believing and exploiting the spaces.
When we make mistakes, we discover ourselves. We still need to improve, but we’re doing well.
We will always try to keep our goal unscathed.
Now we have to rest and be focused. They will be more rested, but let’s not look for excuses.
We have to play it with our qualities and going with the desire to get a result.
The 33-year-old Acerbi, who is contracted to Lazio until 2025, has made 16 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1426 minutes. In that time, he has provided two assists and helped the side keep five clean sheets, adapting well to coach Sarri’s system.
It’s not all been positive for Acerbi so far this campaign, however. He was clearly frustrated in the Biancocelesti’s 3-0 loss to Bologna last month and picked up a red card after a furious exchange with the referee.
