Lazio Coach Sarri Satisfied After Win vs Lokomotiv Moscow, “A Fundamental Match”

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri was very happy with his side’s decisive 3-0 win over Lokomotiv Moscow yesterday.

Speaking first to Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via LazioNews24) after the game, the 62-year-old Italian coach first discussed the importance of the win over the Russian side last night.

It was a fundamental match. We knew we had to win and that everything depended on today. We’re too different on the road than we are at home. But tonight we gave a signal.

They played a combative and battling game. After taking the lead we were good at exploiting the spaces, even if we could have scored more.

Sarri spoke about the strengths and qualities of Spanish winger Pedro.

Pedro is a player who, when he’s on his game, doesn’t stop. He is able to make the difference. He was a little bit injured and for that reason he only played a little.

We managed our wingers well.

The 62-year-old Italian coach was happy with the team’s performance away from home.

We already did well in Bergamo and Marseille, but today was an important confidence boost. But now we need to find consistency.

Sarri spoke about the current condition of Lazio full-back Manuel Lazzari.

Lazzari needs space and in that moment of the match there were many.

When there isn’t a lot, he would find it difficult to play on the wing.

Sarri then discussed the 3-0 win over Lokomotiv Moscow in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia.

In the first half their pressure was quite strong, they made an aggressive start and at times were physical.

It wasn’t easy to come out from behind but every time we managed it we found spaces. After the advantage the game went downhill with lots of chances.

He commented on the performance of Spanish winger Pedro.

Pedro is a phenomenal player, when he has these nights he is a player who can change a match.

It’s normal that it’s like this, we can have all the organisation we want but in the end the quality makes the difference.

The Lazio coach discussed the various rotations made in last night’s match.

We made five changes compared to Saturday however we were extremely competitive. Ciro is back, Patric did very well as a full back.

Positive news, we were looking forward to a decisive day for qualification. We have the last day to finish first and go directly to the round of 16.

Finally, Sarri looked ahead to the next match against Napoli on Sunday.

I don’t have stress for the match with Napoli but for the conditions of my players.

Then Napoli will never be a normal match but we have to see how we are.

Lazio’s next match is their toughest yet, an away game against league leaders Napoli. The Partenopei have only lost once all season, winning 10 games and drawing twice.
