Lazio have been fined €13,000 following the behaviour of the fans in their 4-0 loss to Napoli.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport yesterday, the Biancocelesti received a €10,000 fine following the confirmation that their away fans shouted discriminatory chants towards the fans of the Partenopei. Lazio then received another €3,000 fine due to the supporters throwing a smoke bomb and flare onto the pitch in the first half.

The team’s poor on-pitch performance did not sit well with the travelling supporters, who expressed their anger at the painful defeat to Napoli. Captain Ciro Immobile apologised for the performance after the game.

The Biancocelesti will now have to bounce back in their next game against Udinese on Thursday, but their next real test comes on Sunday away to Sampdoria. It is clear this season that the Lazio squad struggle when playing outside of Rome, so coach Maurizio Sarri will have to work hard to find a solution as soon as possible.
