45 years ago today, Lazio lost legendary coach Tommaso Maestrelli, the man who brought the team their first league title.
As remembered in a post on Lazio’s Twitter page earlier today, Maestrelli sadly passed away on December 2, 1976 at the age of 54, suffering from cancer, cutting short his incredible career.
Maestrelli guided the Biancocelesti to their first ever Scudetto in 1974, forever becoming a club legend and writing himself into the history books.

Maestrelli was the Lazio coach from 1971 to 1976 and he won the Seminatore d’oro award following his team’s title-winning season.
