Tonight’s match between Sampdoria and Lazio will also play host to a duel between Naples natives Fabio Quagliarella and Ciro Immobile.
As highlighted by Italian media outlet LazioNews24 earlier today, the Campania pair will both be looking to secure some much needed points for their respective teams in tonight’s Serie A clash in Genoa.
The 31-year-old Immobile, born in Torre Annunziata, has scored 13 goals in the past against Sampdoria and will be looking to add to that today. They are his favourite opponents and he has only ever lost to them twice.
The 38-year-old Quagliarella, who was born in Castellammare di Stabia, has netted 8 goals against Lazio before and with his season starting a little slowly, this evening’s game could be the moment he kick starts his campaign.
Immobile has been on fire under coach Maurizio Sarri this season; the 31-year-old Italian striker has scored 14 goals in 18 matches across all competitions, including a hattrick in the 6-1 win over Spezia.
