Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha could make his Serie A debut under Maurizio Sarri against Sampdoria this evening.
As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 62-year-old Italian coach may decide to start the Albanian shot stopper after veteran Pepe Reina’s recent poor performances – the Spaniard has conceded eight goals in the last two games.
Strakosha has been training well and has been able to move on after his disastrous mistake in Lazio’s 1-0 loss to Galatasaray earlier this campaign.
The Albanian goalkeeper has also performed well in his Europa League matches and so this could be the right time to restart him in the league.
Reina, on the other hand, could use some time off. He has played the full 90 minutes of every league game this campaign and his performance level has dropped in recent weeks.
The Spanish veteran has a strong relationship with Sarri and so is likely to understand if he were to be benched against Sampdoria today.
