Spanish referee Carlos Del Cerro Grande did well overseeing Lazio’s 0-0 draw with Galatasaray last night.

As collected by Italian media outlet LazioNews24 earlier today, the 45-year-old Spanish referee was praised for his performance in the goalless draw yesterday, with Italian newspapers Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport and Il Messaggero all highlighting his good management of the game.

The only slight issue with Del Cerro Grande’s work yesterday was a possible missed foul on Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but this was an incredibly small error.

Coach Maurizio Sarri and his team, then, can only blame themselves for the disappointing result last night.

Lazio will now have to play against a third-placed Champions League team in a playoff next year in February. Victory last night would have seen them finish top of their group above Galatasaray, directly qualifying them to the Round of 16.

Del Cerro Grande has overseen a variety of top level matches in the past, including two Euro 2020 group stage games and a long list of Champions League clashes.
