Lazio midfielder Mattia Zaccagni will undergo medical tests in the coming days to examine his muscle strain.

As highlighted by Italian media outlet LazioNews24 earlier today, the 26-year-old Italian midfielder was taken off in the 65th minute of the 2-1 loss to Sassuolo yesterday after suffering a muscle strain following a painful blow to his calf.

Lazio are hoping that the injury isn’t serious and so will subject Zaccagni to tests across the next few days to determine the seriousness of the problem.

The former Hellas Verona man has struggled with fitness this season, missing nine games due to a knee injury and a hamstring issue.

The 26-year-old Zaccagni, who joined the club on transfer deadline day in the summer, has made 13 appearances across all competitions so far this season for Lazio, for a total of 664 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal and provided three assists.
