Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi apologised to the squad for his slow adaptation to Maurizio Sarri’s system.
As reported by Italian newspaper Il Messaggero yesterday (via LazioNews24), the 33-year-old Italian defender is still working on adapting to the 62-year-old Italian coach’s 4-3-3 system and his poor performances have been noted already this season.

Acerbi, rather than shying away from this, took the opportunity in Monday’s meeting in Formello to apologise to both Sarri and the entire Lazio squad for his issues and performances this season.

The former Sassuolo defender is not holding the correct high line requested by the 62-year-old Italian coach and so will have to work hard to try and adapt to the new system as soon as possible.
The 33-year-old Acerbi, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2025, has made 21 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1876 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal and provided two assists, helping the side keep six clean sheets.
