AC Milan, Inter & Juventus All Interested in Signing Lazio Defender Acerbi

The three big Italian clubs – AC Milan, Inter and Juventus – are all interested in signing Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi.

As reported by Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, the 33-year-old Italian defender has struggled to adapt to coach Maurizio Sarri’s tactical system this campaign and he is no longer considered irreplaceable in the Biancocelesti squad.

AC Milan are interested in Acerbi for a few reasons, starting with captain Alessio Romagnoli’s expiring contract. Younger defender Matteo Gabbia is also set to depart next summer and Simon Kjaer is recovering from a serious injury, so the club are considering Acerbi as a short-term reinforcement.

Juventus are also fans of the 33-year-old Italian defender and he could become a serious idea should Matthijs de Ligt or Daniele Rugani leave at the end of this season. Coach Massimiliano Allegri also appreciates Acerbi and would be happy to partner him alongside Leonardo Bonucci.

Finally there’s Inter. Coach Simone Inzaghi is the one who wanted him in Rome in the first place and the departure of Andrea Ranocchia next year would free up some space. Stefan de Vrij could also leave, with his agent Mino Raiola pushing for a move to the Premier League.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito values Acerbi at around €5 million, a significant sum for a player who will be 34 next summer.

The Italian defender is reliable, experienced and in a healthy physical condition, which is what makes him an attractive option for the big clubs. The Roman club are ready to listen to offers.
