Lazio started the match well, having most of the ball but struggling to break down a well-drilled Genoa side.

The Roman club’s first real chance came in the 17th minute thanks to Pedro, with his shot being intercepted by Vanheusden.

The Biancocelesti kept up pressure and in the 36th minute finally found the breakthrough as Felipe Anderson’s run down the left allowed him to serve up a nice ball for Pedro, who found the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Lazio went into the break with a comfortable 1-0 lead, although it was clear that the team should have extended their advantage in the first 45 minutes.
