Lazio Fans Still Angry With Acerbi Following ‘Shhh’ Celebration Despite Apology

Lazio fans are still enraged with Francesco Acerbi following his controversial celebration in the 3-1 win over Genoa.

As reported by Italian media outlet LazioNews24 earlier today, the 33-year-old Italian defender caused the controversy after putting his index finger to his lips in a ‘shhh’ gesture following his goal against the Rossoblu on Friday.

Acerbi did apologise for the celebration on social media yesterday but this has done little to calm the Lazio fans, who feel that the gesture was unacceptable considering his shaky performances this season under coach Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri Will Sign His Contract Extension With Lazio Next Week

The 33-year-old Italian defender has clearly struggled to adapt to Sarri’s tactical system and so the celebration was clearly a moment where he vented his frustrations at the criticisms, but it’s undoubtable now that the celebration was a mistake.

Acerbi, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2025, is no longer considered unsellable by the club and so there’s a chance he could be sold in the next two transfer windows.
