Lazio are slowly getting close to reaching a contract renewal agreement with expiring defender Luiz Felipe.

As reported by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 24-year-old Brazilian defender’s current deal with the Roman club expires next year in 2022 and so the Biancocelesti are working on tying him down to a new deal.

Luiz Felipe is considered a core part of coach Maurizio Sarri’s contract and Lazio have no intention of losing the player in the next six months, so they are hard at work trying to iron out an acceptable deal with the Brazilian defender.

The 24-year-old defender is happy in Rome and is keen to sign the renewal, so the parties are now working on finalising the details regarding his salary and any attached add-ons.

Luiz Felipe, who joined Lazio in 2016, has made 20 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1764 minutes. In that time, he has helped the side keep five clean sheets.
