Lazio midfielder Danilo Cataldi was in high spirits after the team’s confident 3-1 win over Venezia yesterday.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN (via LazioNews24) after the match, the 27-year-old Italian midfielder first commented on Francesco Acerbi’s goal early in the second half.
I don’t know if Acerbi touched it for the goal, the important thing is to bring home the three points.
The Lazio midfielder then discussed the team’s progress this campaign under coach Maurizio Sarri.
We’ve probably lost some enthusiasm, we know how to do things, we just need to find the right time for the pressure. We’ll soon see Lazio.
Cataldi touched on his personal growth this season in Rome.
I have not changed compared to last year, the coach has changed and probably the hierarchies have changed.
I give everything in training and I’m happy when I’m chosen.
Finally, Cataldi spoke about what wishes he has for the new year.
What I ask for for the new year is only tranquillity, we found some difficulties with such an important coach but we are a strong team and we want a place in Europe.
The 27-year-old Cataldi, who is contracted to Lazio until 2024, has made 24 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1273 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal and provided one assist.
Lazio’s win over Venezia yesterday still leaves them 8th in the Serie A table after 19 games, sitting one point behind intercity rivals Roma and Vincenzo Italiano’s Fiorentina.
The Biancocelesti’s first game of 2022 is against Empoli on 6th January, before they travel to Milan to face Inter on 9th January.
